If you’ve ever dreamed of having a home in an idyllic setting with a unique
ocean village atmosphere, quiet tree-lined streets, friendly neighborhoods,
and spectacular sunsets; you must explore purchasing a home or
condominium in Coronado.  Also known as “Coronado Island” or the “Crown
City”, Coronado is a 13.5 square mile "island" of charming homes and
abundant services located in San Diego Bay just minutes from downtown San
Diego.  Downtown Coronado is often described as charming, with its unique
shops and cafes and restaurants offering outdoor dining ideal for people
watching.  Coronado’s bayside complex of shops and restaurants, Ferry
Landing Marketplace, provides glorious views of downtown San Diego. With
its near-perfect climate and healthy economy, Coronado provides a stable and
secure setting for residents and businesses alike.

Coronado is home to about 26,000 people in zip code 92118, and is one of the
most prestigious areas in America to live.  Coronado homes and
condominiums range in value from the several 100 thousands to many
millions of dollars.   Coronado Cays, one of the most prestigious gated
communities in the country is a collection of one and two story upscale homes
located on the bay side of Coronado's Silver Strand.  Most homes feature boat
slips and the center of the subdivision is the impressive Coronado Cays Yacht
Club.

Coronado is actually a peninsula connected to the mainland on the south via
the six-mile Silver Strand, a wonderful scenic highway for local commuters to
and from downtown San Diego.  Surrounded by water on three sides - the
Pacific Ocean, Glorietta and San Diego bays, the 2.5 mile Coronado Toll Bridge,
famous for its height and curved span large enough to allow battleships to
pass underneath, provides a scenic ride high above the water while the Ferry
to Coronado, offers a scenic ride across the water.

An internationally renowned tourist destination, Coronado is also known for
its national historic landmark, the Hotel del Coronado, or, “The Del”, as
residents and its many famous guests lovingly call it.  The Hotel del Coronado
opened for business in February 1888 and with its distinctive red turrets
rising high above the golden sand, and its glamorous aura, the Del has
counted some of the world's icons, including Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra,
and every sitting President since Lyndon Johnson, as guests. On the beach
south of the Hotel Del Coronado, you can see the hull of the sunken gambling
ship Monte Carlo, which washed ashore in 1936.  The beach also offers great
views of Point Loma, the Coronado Islands, and Tijuana to the south. You may
even be lucky enough to see whale's tails as they migrate to Mexico's warmer
waters from December to February.  The city's Central, North and Silver
Strand beaches are ideal for whatever water-related activity you can think of -
there's even Dog Beach, where your pet can frolic with you.  Coronado City
Beach has been named one of the Travel Channel's www.travelchannel.com
2003 Top Beaches in the United States.

In addition to tourists, Coronado is known as the birthplace of naval aviation.
Coronado is home to North Island Naval Air Station and the Naval Amphibious
Base.  Since Coronado is also one of the SEALs training facilities you may see
Navy SEALs running along the beach in the early morning hours. North Island
is home to three carriers and over 230 aircraft.  North Island was also the
jump off point of the first leg of Charles Lindbergh’s historic flight for New
York May 9, 1927.

Swim, surf, sail, fish, bike, skate, golf, tennis, restaurants, parks, highly rated
schools, top-notch municipal services - Coronado has it all.  Although
Coronado is Spanish for “crowned”, owning real estate and living in Coronado
is the real jewel in the crown.
